Burberry's BAFTA Breakthrough

BURBERRY has teamed up withBAFTA to celebrate emerging British acting talent. The fashion house will spearhead a new project, Breakthrough Brits, with the aim of supporting the UK's "future stars of film, television and games".
Through the initiative, 20 talented newcomers will be selected by a BAFTA panel to take part in a day of career guidance and mentoring from leading industry figureheads at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' headquarters in London, in October. The selected shortlist will be celebrated during an evening reception that same evening at the Burberry Regent Street flagship store, and will also receive a full year of career guidance from specialists in their respective fields and access to BAFTA events.
"We are incredibly excited to be working with Burberry to provide this platform for emerging talent," said Amanda Berry, chief executive of BAFTA. "It's a fantastic opportunity for newcomers to showcase their work on a public stage, and to make the industry connections that are so important to developing their careers both nationally and internationally. We hope that their achievement will inspire others taking their first steps into the film, television and games industries."
Burberry is renowned for its nurturing of up-and-coming talent, most notably through its support of emerging musicians via the Burberry Acoustic initiative. The brand has worked with BAFTA before, providing red carpet attire for nominees at the annual awards ceremony - but this is its first major foray into the film industry.
To apply for the BAFTA Breakthrough Brits programme, submit nominations online at bafta.org. The deadline for applications is July 8 at 10am.
