BEYONCÉ KNOWLES has been named as an honorary chairperson of the 2013 Met Ball. The Vogue cover girl will have a prominent role at this year's Costume Institute Gala, which pays tribute to the Punk movement.
The singer will join Anna Wintour - an ambassador of the institute since 1995 - alongside fellow co-chairs Riccardo Tisci and Rooney Mara, who are acting as this year's hosts. Several invites bearing Beyoncé's name have already been sent out, reports WWD.
This year's exhibition, Punk: Chaos to Couture, will run from May 9 until August 11, 2013, with the famed opening night gala set to take place on May 6. While it's yet to be confirmed which designer Beyoncé will be collaborating with on the night, she attended the 2012 Met Ball wearing a dramatic feathered Givenchy Couture gown custom-designed by Tisci - so history suggests that they are likely to partner again.
