Daytime Emmys Set for June 16 on Hln

The Daytime Emmys are returning to cabler HLN for the second consecutive year, with the kudofest scheduled for June 16.

The Beverly Hilton will once again host the event, now in its 40th year, with the broadcast airing at 8 p.m. on both coasts.

Overnight viewership for last year’s broadcast on HLN was 912,000 – by far the lowest in Daytime Emmy history, but the most-watched regularly 

scheduled, non-news telecast ever for HLN. The Daytime Emmys had averaged 5.5 million viewers on CBS from 2010-11, after drawing a previous low of 2.7 million on the CW in 2009.

“Our audiences thanked us for tapping into that vital part of American pop culture,” said HLN exec veep and g.m. Scot Safon.

LocoDistro is producing this year’s Daytime Emmys, with Gabriel Gornell exec producing.  As previously announced, longtime gameshow host Monty Hall and producer Bob Stewart will receive lifetime achievement awards.

“The outcome of this partnership will be a creative show honoring all the genres that make daytime television part of our daily lives,” National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences chairman Malachy Wienges said.
