KATE MOSS stretched out on the beautiful beaches of St Barths - now that's a slice of summer.
"It started with the idea of glamour and I think Kate Moss epitomises that," explains Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers of the Sail Awayshoot in the June issue, in which Moss stars alongside photographer Patrick Demarchelier's boat, Puffy.
"Patrick suggested his boat and his boat is beautiful and so then it became about thinking what Kate would wear on a boat, that day-to-night thing. We wanted to capture that random thing about holidays, like holiday bags and what you have in them. I love the idea that a holiday bag is so varied, everything you love - bikinis and florals," says Chambers of the inspiration behind the mix of rainbow colours, nostalgic prints and status jewels that are the emphasis of the shoot.
"And we tried to make it personal to her," goes on Chambers - something that all too quickly fell into place when the hair and make-up kit, as well as some of the clothes, went missing in transit. But no matter. "That happens on holidays," reasons Chambers. "Kate looks like she looks and needs very little help. She was so glam anyway. Everything happens for a reason."
