Richard Nicoll Introduces A New "Normal"

RICHARD NICOLL is eschewing the idea of bold fashion statements for a different form of chic - a look he describes as "the special normal". His understated, versatile aesthetic is encapsulated in his new capsule collection for matchesfashion.com, which will launch on May 22.
"The beauty of the collection is that the clothes should appeal to anyone with an eye for quality and timelessness - the range isn't demographic specific," said Nicoll. "I wanted to play on unisex signatures to create an efficient capsule wardrobe of timeless and versatile classics. The collection is designed to be worn all year around in different combinations of layering."
The London-based designer worked closely with the store to perfect details of colour, shape and fabris. The results embody an androgynous modernity - with highlights including burgundy leather trousers, a minimal denim shirt with a contrasting collar and a colour block knit jumper in navy and grey. Prices start at £240 for a shirt.
"Matchesfashion.com is a big account for us and have been supporters for a long time," added Nicoll. "We thought that it would be interesting to do an exclusive range with them across men's and women's, as many of our signature shapes are relevant to both genders."
