TOMMY HILFIGER has enlisted the help of an unusual design partner - The Muppets. The US powerhouse has teamed up with Disney to launch a childrenswear collection of T-shirts and jumpers, which each bare colourful sketches of the famous puppets - including Miss Piggy, Kermit the frog and Fozzie bear. And, it seems, Miss Piggy - not an easy character to please - was rather taken with the way in which Hilfiger handled the collaboration.
"Moi adores working with Tommy on the Muppets collection," he said. "Not only is he talented, elegant and gracious, but he does all the work. All moi has to do is tell him what I think about the designs and Tommy takes care of all of it! Isn't that fabulous? Kermie also loves working with Tommy."
Each of the famed puppets are featured wearing items from Hilfiger's spring/summer 2013 collection, aimed at children between six months and 16 years old. Kermit appears in burgundy chinos and a black blazer, while Miss Piggy is dressed in a striped knee-length dress. The collection is available to buy online and in stores now.
"I love the pieces with moi - they're so stylish, so now, so moi," said Miss Piggy. "I also love the designs featuring Kermie and moi - and especially the top that reads 'Miss Piggy 4 Kermit'. It never hurts to advertise your intentions, n'est ce pas?"
